St. Clair County to host meeting about proposed I-64 interchange

The St. Clair County Highway Department will host a public information meeting discussing the proposed interchange on Interstate 64 at Reider Road from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport.

If approved, the new interchange would be built between Illinois 158 and Illinois 4 and provide a direct road to the rear gate at Scott Air Force Base and access toMidAmerica Airport. Officials hope the exit will be a financial shot in the arm for MidAmerica and lure nearby commercial development to the neighboring communities of O'Fallon and Shiloh.

St. Clair County previously approved a $400,000 contract with Kaskaskia Engineering to prepare the application.
