The O’Fallon council has given initial approval to including a traffic report in the city’s comprehensive plan to serve as a guide for development within the northeast portion of the city.

The study’s most noteworthy recommendations include:

— realigning traffic flow unto Hagemann Road to Scott-Troy Road from a proposed Rieder Road interchange on I-64;

— rebuilding the current one-lane railroad underpass on Rieder Road to remove constraints for development north of the proposed interchange; — constructing a multi-lane, east-west corridor between Seven Hills Road and Scott-Troy Road;

— constructing an east-west arterial road across Silver Creek allowing access from Lebanon to Scott-Troy Road;

— urging the Illinois Department of Transportation for an additional interchange on the proposed Gateway Connector Corridor (currently Scott-Troy Road);

— constructing collector roads serving commercial and industrial uses within the planned business park near the proposed Rieder Road interchange.
