Letter to the Editor: Interchange unnecessary

27 May 2010, O'F Progress

Letter to the editor,

The Reider Road interchange development: it's called sprawl ya all, and the only people it serves are road builders, developers and Realtors. Diamonds, like London, Amsterdam, and San Francisco are lovely because of a concentration of resources in a central area — pressure concentrates resources and design.

Any twit can build out into the desert for ever. Just visit San Jose, New Jersey, Las Vegas, to name a few of many. They are sad places to live. They are not places really, simply a lifestyle devoted to spending time burning oil and sitting in automobiles. The average commute in Atlanta is pushing over an hour and a half a day.

We are feeding a machine and it is getting bigger than we are. We are junkies and the oil companies and car manufactures are the pushers. It can stop if we begin at the grassroots level, think and take action.
